scrumptious thursday

do you know that kids snacks aren't that cheap?
mahal ok
for example heinz finger-cookies tu rasanya harga belas2 kot for 12 pcs
even their farley rusk cost 10 bucks for 12 pcs.

i try to find a more economical yet healthy snack for aunah and came across this article at babycenter.com on finger foods
one of their favorites is small pieces of lightly toasted bread or bagels
i think why not?
and i began making my own baby's snacks :)

Finger Toast

what you need:

wholemeal bread [that's it! heheh]

how you do it:

1. remove the skins
2. cut a slice of bread into 3 or 5 stripes
3. toast the stripes into the oven for 10-15 minutes, depends on how crunchy u want it to be
4. ready to eat! walla!

keep in an airtight container to maintain the crunchiness!

err...i want it all ibu!!

muka gembira makan snack!!

it's that simple and yummy too
even her dad can't stop eating it :)
the most enjoyable part - the happy, cheeky look on her face while she's having it
priceless!!

routine

i have my own version of 'meal plan' for aunah. not because she is slightly bigger than babies her age [in terms of weight and height]. tipulah kan kalau tak risau but since doctor kata her weight tu ok ngan tinggi dia, i don't think i should put a diet plan for her. awal sungguh nak bagi anak diet kot kan!!

her eating routine will roughly be:

0600: milk
0745: breakfast
1000: snack + milk
1130: lunch
1400: snack + milk
1700: milk
1900: dinner
2100: snack + milk

timing xdelah accurate sangat but roughly macam tu lah. and since i've trained her to wake up early every morning, she has started to established her own routine according to mine. kalau aunah tak terjaga sendiri, kita bagi salam pun dia dah terus celik mata. senang je nak bangunkan budak kecik tu. alhamdulillah.

for breakfast and dinner, li still sempat lagi nak bagi sendiri kat aunah. lunch je yang babysitter suapkan. but i'm the one who prepare the lunch la. so kalau hantar aunah selalu ada 2 or tiga bekas untuk makanan aunah. satu lunch and lagi satu snack. if ada soup of the day then jadi tiga la :)

i would suggest that you prepare the food yourself. at least tau apa yang kita masak, apa yang kita letak and dah tentu-tentu bersih kan. tapi, faham tak ramai yang betul-betul ada masa nak buat semua tu. jadinya kalau takde masa kena rajin-rajin tanya babysitter apa dia masak, dia letak apa and whatnot. because if baby sakit perut or muntah2 ke nanti, senang nak cerita kat doctor.

i must admit i'm quite a fussy mother. no sweets or candy or salt or sugar in her food. i try to avoid the unhealthy foods for as long as humanly possible!! hahah! and i made it clear to people around me that they need to ask me first before they give anything to aunah. tak kesahlah biskut ke buah ke apa. mula-mula memang lah dorang bercakap sikit, tahan-tahan anak makan kang anak memilih la cerewet la apa lah but you have to stay firm on your decision. and alhamdulillah, lama-lama dorang pun respect dengan cara kita. yelah, i want to raise her in my own way, my own thinking. she's my daughter anyway!

tapi terpulang pada masing-masing la. rasanya semua ada their own approach sebab confirm2 every parents want the best for their children. but if you are planning to do something contrary to the way others do, then my advice: you should stay firm and strong. peduli jek apa orang lain nak kata. senang kan :)

ok, sekian. heheh.
