swimming with aunah!

getting your baby used to water early is important from a safety point of view and it's great fun too. However, BabyCenter expert and consultant paediatrician Dr Winston Yong advises that you wait until your baby's immunisations are done. "This is because the quality of chlorination, hygiene standards and cleanliness level in our swimming pools may vary," he explains.

taken from babycenter.com

and since aunah dah complete her immunisations [yang wajib2 semua dah except the MMR that will be taken when she reached 12 months] why not we go for swimming then? and me being excited as always mulalah carik swimsuit and pelampung yang letak kat tangan tu untuk aunah :)

posing before kena campak dalam air

looking deep inside

i am one happy baby :)

saya macam budak umur dah setahun tak aunty?

sejukkkkk!!!!

it was soooo much fun! at first takut aunah nanges ke ape ke sebab kalau mandi air sejuk kat rumah, jerit dia boleh kasi gegar satu level. tapi she really enjoyed her time in the pool. saya sukeeeee!!!

=p

i'm having a slight fever, so yesterday hub was being very nice to me. he told me not to cook and even has offered himself for bathing aunah, which he rarely do. hub selalu jugak tolong siapkan aunah but bathe her is always been my job.

while he was preparing to bathe aunah he keep talking, asked me not to worry because he can handle anything [ayat famous hub: saya dah ada 14 anak buah. setakat nak jaga baby, tukar lampin sume sayang tak yah risau!] but guess what happened next? bila nak bukak diaper aunah, i told him to check first. takut aunah poopoo. dia check then terus cakap 'sayang tolong sayang. aunah poopoo. tolong basuh kan je kang saya mandikan' hahahaha! what happen to 'saya dah ada 14 anak buah' tu?

solids 08: white potatoes puree

introduced on:

14th june 2011 for 3 days

vitamins:
A, C, folate
minerals:
potassium, magnesium, phosphorus

ingredients:
white potatoes [russet]

preparation:
1. peel potatoes and cut into small chunks
2. throw everything into steamer blender

3. ready to serve

i used three medium sized white potatoes so it made four portions. the smell of potatoes while been steamed was so nice. bila dah blend dia jadi ala-ala kfc's whipped potatoes without the gravy :)

observations:
day 1: steamed, blended and served
day 2: warmed up the cube that has been frozen
day 3: steamed, blended and served

wah kenapa hari ketiga tak guna cube yang dah frozen? this what happened. on day 1, aunah almost finish her meal. i even loved it. of course few spoons went into my mouth. kekeke. on day 2, when i served the warmed up cube, the potatoes textures kinda pelik. dia macam ketul-ketul and tak sedap. not sure what went wrong sebab bekukan macam yang lain jugak. tentu-tentu aunah refused to eat. she called it off after 5 spoons or so. that's why on day 3 i decided to served it fresh - steamed, blended and served.

note to myself:- lepas ni either kurangkan air masa blend or simply do not freeze the potatoes. buat fresh-fresh. huhu.

3 ripe pears bananas (half banana for each serve)

3. peel a ripe banana and mash in a bowl with a fork

4. add one portion of the pears to the banana and done *tadaa!*

it made four portions so you can freeze up the rest :) the initial plan was to serve the pears only. tapi lepas rasa, pear ni macam ada rasa pasir-pasir sikit so worried the same thing will happen [the applesauce, remember?], i decided to mash and mix with bananas.

observations:
sedap sehingga menjilat jari wa cakap lu! haha! pisang adalah penyelamat! note to myself: belilah pisang sebijik dua setiap kali try makanan baru. ngehngeh.

her stools? conquered by those bananas! wormsssss! yucks!

solids 05: Heinz Farley's Rusk Banana

introduced on:

7th june 2011 for aunah's breakfast

yes, she already had her breakfast. in fact, up until now.
reason why?
her babysitter cakap aunah macam cepat lapar since she keep playing the whole day. selalu aunah akan take her nap dlm 3-4 times a day. for 15-30 minutes. the rest? main la apa lagi! logik jugak la dengan her weight tapi babysitter risau sbb dia asyik nak susu jek. hehe.

observations:

she was a bit surprised at first. probably because of the texture. biasalah buat muka pelik dia but lepas dua tiga suap je. then sehingga licin mangkuk tu. heeh~ i started by giving her 1 1/2 farley's rusk tu and now dah increase jadik 2.

she skip her morning milk since then. 2 - 3 jam lepas tu baru nak susu. she poopoo well. xdelah constipate ke ape ke. alhamdulillah :)

aunah's grandparent

aunah with her tok kin

my parent did not bother to drive all the way from kajang to shah alam as long as they can see aunah
she is their bundle of joy anyway, not only mine
they will force me to go back to kajang every weekend so that they can spend their time with aunah
and if i say i can't, they will definitely come to shah alam
it's like
'if you can not come home to us, we will come to you then'
they love her to that extend.

and they still call me every day
yes, every.single.day
ask me to put the phone near to aunah so that she can hear their voice
i, sometimes feel guilty if aunah did not laugh or coooing or make any voice when they call
kesian sangat rasa kat my parent
tapi budak mana la nak paham sgt kan
so, everytime they call, i will make funny faces or tickles aunah's tummy and chest or just do anything that can make her laugh or talk
i love my parent to that extend.

BUT!
when my mom asked me to do this 'thing' for her, i was like 'ma, there's no way akak nak buat macam tu ok! mama saiko la! no...no...'

guess what she wanted me to do?

she asked me to print out her photo and make a 'topeng' out of it
then soh i pakai masa i main-main ngan aunah so that aunah akan ingat muka tok ma dia jugak
oh tidak kuasa oke!
and plus, itu adalah sangat kelakar and macam pelik giler!
ayooo!
i still do not understand where on earth the idea comes from!
my mom can be so funny sometimes :p

eating may be tiring....

my baby fell asleep while eating!

i think sucking and swallowing the puree may be tiring

kesian pun ada lawak pun ada. keke.

these pictures were taken on the third day of her carrot puree day =p

baby kalau tertido tengah makan comel jek. orang pon cakap cute je tengah makan tetido. cuba kalau kita, konfim kena cop tak senonoh. haha!

solids 04: carrot puree

introduced on:

6th june 2011 for four days

vitamins:
A, C, folate
minerals:
potassium, sodium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
1 fresh big carrot
bm/fm

preparation:
1. peel carrot and cut into small chunks
2. throw everything into steamer blender
3. add some bm/fm to adjust consistency

the color of the puree is sooo nice! orange yo! kalau letak dalam plastik aiskrim orang mesti ingat aiskrim oren asam boi! huhu.

on day 1 and 2, i add a little fm to the carrot puree and by the 3rd day she was enjoying her meal without any fm! *yay*
it made 4 portions. i allowed one portion to cool and fill the rest in my baby cubes!

observations:

this puree is her most favorite so far. one spoon after another and zaaassss! habis satu mangkuk! even her abah was surprised. haha.

she poopoo well. her stool macam ada blended carrot jugak. eeewwww! and less stinky if compared to other puree she ate before.

ps: the reason i wrote about her stools is just because it is important to know how the stools look like because it reflect what baby has eaten. if she continue to has loose stool or if she develop hard, pellet-like stools, u might want to see the doctor. it just for my records and i don't mean to ruin your appetite by reading this =p

solids 03: sweet potato puree

introduced on:

3rd june 2011 for three days

vitamins:
A, C, folate
minerals:
potassium, sodium, selenium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
1 small japanese sweet potato [250g]
bm/fm

preparation:
1. clean, trim and peel sweet potato
2. cut the sweet potato into cubes
3. throw everything into steamer blender
4. add some bm/fm to adjust consistency [if needed]
5. allow to cool

i used philips avent combined steamer and blender to process aunah's food. it quite costly i must said but with some research here and there i managed to get a really good deal! and it worth every penny spent :) just throw, steam, flip, blend and serve!!! the size is small so it don't cramp my sweet little kitchen *love*

observation:

the smell of the sweet potato is super delicious! the taste of course, sweet and yummeh. aunah totally love it at first ngap! it made 4 portions. i fill the rest in my baby cubes and freeze it for later use.

she didn't poopoo after had the sweet potato for two days. maybe the sweet potato kinda 'berat' kot. so at her third day i made her drink more water and she poopoo well the next day. such a relieved! her stools? macam sweet potato punya puree jugak just add some smell. haha!

ps: it's funny you know, when you become a mother the time your babies can poopoo well, you feel such relieved. tu pun boleh buat kita happy! weird, i know.

31st may 2011 for three days

vitamins:
A, C, folate
minerals:
potassium, phosphorus, selenium, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
1 ripe banana [embun, berangan]
bm/fm

preparation:
1. peel ripe banana - do not cook
2. mash the banana in a bowl using a fork
3. add some bm/fm and puree into desired consistency

this was really an easy peasy recipe! it will help a lot if you are traveling with babies and need to give her some snack. just peel and mash. nyumeh! =p

observation:
she ate half of the portion during the first and second day but on the third day, she finished the whole bowl! her body was tingling a few times. rasanya pasal ada rasa masam sikit kat pisang tu tapi masam yang sedap kot. haha!

her stools? i was having a panic attacked the first time she poopoo because ada brownish thing yang macam worm kat stools aunah. serious ok! lama giler tengok benda alah tu nak tengok dia gerak ke ape ke. haha! saiko tengok stool anak lama-lama. eeewwww!!! but it just some brownish strands from the banana because the second time she poopoo, her stool looked exactly the same. fuhh!

solids 01: avocado puree

introduced on:

28th may 2011 for three days

vitamins:
A, C, niacin, folate
minerals:
potassium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
half ripe avocado
bm/fm

preparation:
1. cut into half, remove seed
2. spoon out the 'meat' and mash with a fork - do not cook

3. add some bm/fm and puree into desired consistency [decrease the milk added to the avocados in time as babies will adapt herself to the new textures]

when you mash the 'meat' they will be some sort of 'serat', yang macam benang-benang tu. i removed the 'serat' sebab takut aunah tercekik. hihi.

i tasted the avocado's puree before i gave it to aunah. the taste? payau kott! but you know, baby's bud is totally different from us so i just gave it a try. and guess what? she loved it! of course she made her funny face at first but then ngap ngap saje!

bulat!

observation:
she took more than 10 teaspoon! it was a good start. a very good start i must say. if you go by the book, they suggest to give 2 tbsp to see how the food react to the bodies. if the babies is sensitive to the food, they might experience rashes, constipation, loose stools, vomiting, colic etc. but since aunah takde eczema macam ibu dia, i was quite confident to give her more than only 2 tbsp and alhamdulillah everything went well!

her stools? thick, greenish stools the next day and the smell, eewwww! busuk! yucks! kekeke.

what you might need

for babies:
highchair / bumbo baby [in my case, since aunah cannot sit still without support so i just use her baby rocker. any reclining chair would do. just make sure that she's upright enough to swallow well]
small shallow narrow-tipped spoon
bib
small bowl
wet wash cloth or tissue

for dadies:
camera / video cam

for mummies:
steamer / boiler
blender / food processor / baby food grinder
small plastic containers with covers or ice cube trays with covers [for refrigerating and freezing the extra portions]
and of course, last but not least,

A LOT OF PATIENCE!!

ps: i've been feeding her with solid for 11 days but only now i can find some time to write about it. lots of work but i really need to write everything before i forgot every tiny details about those beautiful moment!

*hugs*
