solids 12: rice porridge with vegetables/fruits puree

this recipe is ideal for working mothers like me. bukan resipi apa pun just the simplest and fastest yet healthy way to prepare porridge for your little one.

i divide the whole process into 3 steps:

1st step: puree stock
2nd step: rice stock
3rd step: porridge

puree stock
ingredients:
any vegetables/fruits [make sure the vegetables/fruits are appropriate to the age]

preparations:
1. clean, peel and cut vegetables/fruits into small cubes
2. throw everything into steamer blender

3. pack the portions in baby cubes or ice trays

4. keep them in the freezer


rice stock
ingredients:
rice

preparations:
1. clean the rice according to the quantity needed [ni untuk buat stok so kalau banyak pun xpe]
2. letakkan beras di dalam bekas yang agak besar dan dijemur ATAU goreng beras tadi tanpa minyak [sangai] sehingga beras menjadi keperang-perangan
3. kisar beras yang telah kering [pastikan beras betul-betul kering sebelum dikisar] sehingga menjadi halus

4. simpan beras di dalam bekas kedap udara


porridge
ingredients:
2 tbsp of rice [yang sudah dikisar]
1 portion/cube of vegetables/fruits puree


preparations:
1. jerangkan beras yang telah dicampur dengan air selama beberapa minit
2. bila agak-agak bubur sudah masak dan air hampir kering, masukkan 1 portion/cube of vegetables/fruits puree into the porridge

3. kacau dan tutup api

4. ready to serve!


kalau nak hantar kat babysitter maybe boleh masuk termos or senang tupperware jek
in my case, i pack the porridge in the baby cubes
2 baby cubes per day meaning about 4oz of porridge
saja bagi lebih in case aunah lapar terlebih or tertumpah ke
but strictly tiada paksaan dalam menghabiskan porridge tu
bagi banyak mana yang aunah nak je.

senang bagi dalam baby cube sebab before makan babysitter just rendam kejap baby cube tu dalam air panas nak bagi bubur tu suam then she can feed directly from the cube
and by using the cube i can monitor the amount of aunah's food intake
senang untuk reference and kalau jumpa doctor tak yah nak agak-agak

observations:

this is so far the easiest way to prepare her porridge
since beras tu dah dikisar, time nak masak tu bape minit jek
tak payah nak tenggek nasi tu lama-lama

as for aunah, she really look forward for her lunch time
at first i was afraid if she become a picky eater since most of her puree yang dia makan before the porridge semua manis-manis e.g. pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato but alhamdulillah bila campur porridge dengan bayam or brokoli, aunah suka jugak
good girl!

and since we introduced lunch in her daily meal, her milk intake pon dah kurang
she is having about 4 to 5 milk feeds per day now
the amount depends dengan gap between her meal
selalunya 120ml ~ 180ml

her daily meal

she had her first solid meal at 6 months. it's not a real meal, i mean not the kind of meal we adult take. all puree for her. from avocados to pumpkin and beans, we've tried it all and alhamdulillah until today no allergies whatsoever.

at first i feed her in the evening right after i came home from work, just because i want to feed her myself. bukan tak trust orang lain ke apa [ok, i'm hardly find myself trust anyone when it come to aunah] tapi because it was her first time so i want to be the one who feed her. few weeks later, there was a change in her routine. after fetch aunah from babysitter, dia nak main segala. then ngantok. if you force her to eat then amukan sakan la jawabnya. one thing that you should remember, feeding time supposed to be fun. so u kena rileks and the baby kena rileks jugak sebab kalau baby mengamuk kite pon stress jugak. no point kan?

then i feed her a little late. lepas maghrib macam tu. semua ok but she didn't take her milk after that. meaning, makan kol 7.30 camtu then main-main, huha huha pastu terus tido sampai pagi. i thought it was normal. maybe the veges/fruits puree tu buat dia kenyang sampai pagi kan sampailah i jumpa doctor and told her about aunah's eating habit. according to her, it's not ok if the baby refuse to take the milk because it is her main source of protein. jadinya dia suggest bagi aunah makan awal so that malam dia akan lapar balik. maybe dia akan cranky sikit time petang tu tapi lama-lama nanti she will adjust.

and guess what? it works wonders! dua tiga hari jek cam cranky then ok dah =p

so she was having solids for breakfast and dinner until she reached 7 mos. farleys for breakfast, veges and fruits puree for dinner. at 7 months, i introduced lunch to her. plain rice porridge with veges. jadinya tiap-tiap pagi prepare untuk bagi kat babysitter, then clearly explain time bila yang patut bagi, how it should be served [aunah suka kalau food dia suam-suam], siap cakap kalau aunah dah tak nak jangan force and bla bla bla. tak lah cerewet sangat pon kan? hihi

and now, at 8 months, aunah's feeding schedule is: breakfast - lunch - dinner. she eats well. she plays well. she sleeps well and even poopoo well. haha! i should have nothing to worry about, kan?

ps: gonna introduced her to chicken and fish very soon. also pasta! cant wait!

eight months old

so she reached 8 mos yesterday
it's quite a ride!
alhamdulillah
i'm not sure how much weight she is now
because no more injection until she turn 12 mos so
no more monthly visit to the clinic
but last week her weight was 9.5 kg and with the fever and whatnot,
i guess her 8 mos weight is just around that
semangat bebenor anak
saya ni!
orang nak dukung-dukung pun give up after 10 mins or so =p

she starts crawling last week and didn't stop since then
she even crawl in her sleep!
tak tipu punya!
and of course, it's getting harder to put on her clothes
susah giler!
kalau berjaya pakaikan pampers tu dah kira teror dah la


her favourite activities now is standing and cruising
she will stand while holding to almost anything

gigih nak berjalan sampai ke hujung
sofa tu

semalam tup tap tup tap dah muncul kat dapur then zapppp berdiri sambil pegang fridge
horror horror!
kalau gedebang ke belakang mau gedegang kepala tu
kena carik safety gate secepat mungkin ni
*there goes my kaachingg again*

sekarang ni everytime aunah 'kehilangan' ibu tersayang, *cewah cewah*
mesti straight merangkak ke dapur!
mulut lak dok rengek mmmmaaa...mmmma...
cam nak nyebut mama kan?
hehe
ala baby tu dulu yang dia pandai sebut
pasni leh sebut bbbubu...bbbubu lak
heeh~

hurm, what else
dia tau nama dia aunah
panggil aunah jek kelam kabut berpusing
then dia dah ada muka geram dah sekarang ni
haha
everytime kena duduk dalam car seat, bila orang jenguk dia mesti buat muka geram
konon marah la pasal kena duduk dalam tu
kalau leka borak tak peduli kat dia, mesti buat
muka geram jugak
hihi
cute oke! [haha! anak sendiri kiut miut je la]

muka geram!

and last but not least
her hair masih begitu jugak
kelam kabut haru biru
so lili, sila jangan berangan nak ikat rambut aunah ngan riben bagai
tak dapat langsung!

oh another thing
have to mention about it here
aunah prefer her ibu than her abah
hehe
so abah, i think, she think, you are not cool enough for her!
hahaha!

crawling

as i said in my previous post, aunah dah pandai merangkak dah *grin*
dulu-dulu dia dok mengengsot ke belakang
then mengengsot-ngengsot ke depan pulak
and about two weeks after she reached the age of 6 months, she managed to being on all fours
no more mengengsot-ngengsot macam siput tu
but aunah tak crawl. dia angkat badan then hempas, angkat hempas. sakit dada wooo tengok. laju toksah cakap la, kemain!

i thought she will take longer to learn how to crawl since she can't sit properly lagi
kalau ikut development milestone, baby will start crawling soon after she can sit well without support
in aunah case, ponggong bulat sangat duduk pon asyik nak tergolek
bersimpuh dengan tangan sebelah kat lantai boleh la [perempuan melayu terakhir sungguh. haha]

but you know, babies always do things that surprise us
after all they are babies, full of surprises!

and last saturday, 16 july 2011 she made it!
she crawled yaww!
and again, alhamdulillah i was there to witness her very first crawling moment
oh siap nanges oke
haha! drama queen sungguh

the crawling things didn't come alone
she now love to climb onto the sofa or try to stand by herself, of course with the help of things around her e.g dining chair, box, table
with the bumps and falls, she really make my heart skip a beat or two
berdebar hati menengoknya tau
but i just let her explore her surroundings
tu je lah cara nak belajar
pandai jatuh pandai bangun...haha...just keep your eyes on her la kan

i'm gonna reach for the sofa!

muka bangga tak tahan! siap lepas tangan sebelah tu!!!

tengok aunah merangkak rasa macam cepatnya anak membesar
dulu cinonet jek, gi mana-mana kena kita dukung
sekarang dah pandai merangkak sendiri
esok-esok dah berjalan, berlari segala tak yah ibu nak dukung-dukung dah
can the time just passes slowly?

fever...

she is down with fever
her very first fever
mark the date: 18th july 2011
betul-betul seminggu before nak masuk 8 bulan
maybe pasal nak beralih bulan
tapi mama kata pasal aunah dah pandai merangkak so macam dah reach one big milestone tu pasal demam
merangkak pun boleh demam ke?
mitos sungguh mama gue ni

it has been three days now
kesian oke
dengan flu ngan batuknya
lagi kesian sebab baby manalah pandai nak hembus-hembus hingus kan so everytime i reach for her wipe cloth terus nak lari
batuk lagilah, habes menyembur-nyembur air liur dia kat muka
sebab anak maka rela je la. haha

tapiiiiiiiiii....
even demam alhamdulillah selera makan masih masyuk
habis saja everytime
agaknya ibu masak sedap sangat kot =)

and now the big baby pulak yang macam nak demam
berturut-turut la pulak kitorang ni
taking care of one sick lil baby is tiring enough and now her abah pulak
harap-harap hub tak demam teruk sangat
if not, i think im gonna lose some fat here =p

terkangkang tertonggeng bagai budak demam ni

super random!

i'm here at hub's office. alone. taklah sorang-sorang tapi tengah tunggu dia ntah pegi kemana-mana. hub bukak pc pastu cakap 'nah dok diam-diam main computer'. wahhh! macam bawak anak pi ofis pulak. ofis dia macam orang jugak. line clear kalau nak mengulor ke apa. konfim takde sapa kacau. sedap!

it's kinda sweet bila datang ofis dia tengok atas meja ada frame gambar yang orang buat sendiri bagi kat dia. tengok kat bawah meja ada bantal yang orang bagi masa zaman sebok bercinta. agaknya kalau dia tengah buat keje ada teringat kat orang ke eh? haha!

we went to jalan bellamy just now. of course stuffing ourself with great ikan and sotong bakar. sedapnya bila teringat balik. we girls should go there someday. mari-mari ye makan perempuan-perempuan saja. heeh~ and we left aunah kat umah. keji kan? haha. taklah keji pun sebab tadi singgah pureen warehouse sale top up pampers aunah and segala mak nenek sabun cik itu. agaknya setiap kali warehouse tu muka kitorang ni ada je la kot.

sebenarnya post ni macam mengarut sebab dah tak tau nak browse apa jadi sila layan saja ye. and mengarut lagi sebab tengah mengantuk. huhu. jadi saya berhenti mengarut ye. daa!

solids 11: carrots + sweet potatoes

vitamins:
A, C, folate, niacin
minerals:
potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
2 medium size organic carrots
2 medium size organic japanese sweet potatoes

preparation:
1. clean, peel and cut both carrots and sweet potatoes into small cubes
2. throw everything into steamer blender
3. ready to serve

carrots and sweet potatoes were such a great combo. dua-dua manis, dua-dua sedap, dua-dua bagus! hehe.

observations:

of course she loved it. she loved both individually and bila campur lagilah menjilat jari. tak yah nak suruh dia bukak-bukak mulut. suap satu sudu terus nganga nak lagi. hehe.

and carrot adalah pelawas yang bagus. everytime makan yang ada carrot mesti pagi ngan malam dia poopoo baek punya! haha

solids 10: brocotoes [brocolli + white potatoes]

vitamins:
A, C, K, folate
minerals:
potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
1 bunch of fresh brocolli
2 small white potatoes

preparation:
1. wash, peel and wash again potatoes and cut into small chunks
2. wash brocolli under cool water
3. cut the brocolli florets into small pieces [i didn't use the stems]
4. throw everything into steamer blender
5. ready to serve!

i made it fresh for both day since i had quite a bad experience with frozen white potatoes. tamau membazir dah. kesian kat kentang tu =p

observations:

this was the first greenish snack aunah had. muka dia pun pelik menengok hijau-hijau dalam mangkuk tu. haha. i wouldn't say she loved it because it took like forever for her to finish the snack tapi habislah jugak. agaknya rasa brokoli tu pelik kot bila steam gitu jek. guess the sweet taste of the white potatoes helped a lil bit la :)

solids 09: pumpkins puree

vitamins:
A, C, K, folate, niacin
minerals:
potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium

ingredients:
half of small organic pumpkin

preparation:
1. peel and de-seed the pumpkin
2. cut into small cubes
3. throw everything into steamer blender
4. ready to serve!

i never cooked pumpkin before and i never thought that the pumpkin skin/shell was so 'hard'. ingatkan lembut-lembut jek macam sweet potato tu sekali hambek ko! haha!

observations:
i have never been a fan of labu pun. tak kesah la pengat ke, masak lemak ke but aunah love it soooooo much! i never thought that pumpkin taste so good! in fact, sampai hari ni pun labu is one of her favourite snack [i called her evening meal snack sebab xde rice kan so macam ringan jek. meal macam berat nye la food tu. heeh]

her stools? same as the pumpkin puree that she ate. yuck!
